abstract

In order to evaluate the heat removal capability of CAP1400 passive containment cooling system, containment pressure analysis should be performed to verify the adequacy of the containment heat removal mechanisms to maintain post-accident containment pressure below the design limit. But first of all, appropriate containment analysis models should be developed and verified for performing the design basis containment analysis. the nodalizations of the lumped parameter evaluation model are studied in this paper with consideration of important parameters such as mass and energy release, containment volume, internal heat sink, and PCS heat removal to calculate DBA containment pressure and temperature response. This paper sets up three different large scale integral test analysis models to study the effect of nodalizations of the evaluation model using in the containment analysis, reasonable and conservative containment nodalizations are researched by comparison with one typical CERT quasi-steady state test. The comparison and evaluation results show appropriate lumped parameter model can simulate the containment pressure response reasonably and conservatively.
