abstract

The paper presents a practical approach to automotive fuse simulations. A fuse model was developed using only the fuse blow curves provided by the fuse manufacturer. The parameters of the fuse model were determined by minimizing the squared error between the fuse blow curves of the model and manufacturer’s datasheet. The fuse model presented captured the behavior of the fuse during normal and intermittent DC faults. It is demonstrated that the model developed in this research provides better thermal model than available methods. The motivation for the article has been described in the introduction.
