End fitting is one of the most important equipment of the flexible pipe with the function of terminating all the pipe layers, sealing and venting gas. Seal system is the weakest component of the end fitting which is easy to fail under functional and environmental load. This paper addresses the seal performance of the flexible pipe end fitting seal system used in deep waters. The finite element model for flexible pipe end fitting seal system is established in software of ABAQUS to perform the parameter sensitivity analysis on different parameters with the nonlinear contact analysis. The rules of seal and mechanical performances of flexible pipe end fitting seal system on the key parameters under different conditions are studied. The technique proposed in this paper will provide further references for the design of flexible pipe end fitting seal system.
