abstract

This paper gives a brief description of a circumferentially oriented modular gas turbine recuperator. The basic module is of the plate-fin type, and is made from an assembly of radially tapered secondary surfaces to form a segmental matrix with a counterflow fluid configuration. The removable modules are integrated with the axial turbomachinery to form a compact package. Some of the economic, design, manufacturing, and performance experiences gained during the development of this heat exchanger are discussed in detail.
