The authors discuss initiation of gas-turbine building at the LMZ plant, noting the improvements in fuel and increases in gas-turbine sizes resulting from the cooperation of different production plants and research centers. The cooperative effort led eventually to the largest gas turbine (GT-100-750 sized at 100,000 kw) built at LMZ, manufactured and rig tested in 1967. Design features of the huge unit’s main parts are described, as is the manufacturing experience.
