Power Plant 7 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia is comprised of sixteen MS7001E gas turbines. Rated at 800 MW, it is the worlds largest crude oil fueled gas turbine power plant. During the period May 1981 to August 1982, performance tests to determine output and heat rate were conducted on the gas turbines as part of customer acceptance procedures. The units had all accumulated anywhere from 900 to 5000 fired hours prior to the acceptance tests. This paper reviews the results of the performance tests as well as the equipment and procedures which were used to maintain output and efficiency of the units after extended operation.
