abstract

An experimental investigation and an engineering calculation of aerodynamic-aeroacoustic performance in axial-flow fans (or propellers) with skewed-swept rotors and radial rotors were carried out. It is shown that the calculated results agree with the experimental data. The approach for parametric effects on aerodynamic-aeroacoustic performance was investigated. The approach involves skew-sweep direction and angle, four kinds of stacking line for cascade. Results are presented that the performance with forward skewed (or swept) blades is better than that of backward skewed (or swept) blades. The selected forward-skew angle of 11.2 deg and forward-sweep angle of 23.7 deg are obtained. The line-arc combination stacking line of cascade has the best performance within the four kinds of stacking lines. In addition, the spanwise position of maximum pressure rise tends gradually to the hub with the skewed-swept angle increase on a constant pressure rise. Therefore, with appropriate blade design, significant noise reduction and efficiency increase are possible while maintaining similar geometric and aerodynamic parameter excepting skewed-swept angle.
