This paper describes the requirements and the main features of a research project that plans to introduce model-based diagnostic methods for the analysis of dynamic behavior of the rotating machinery of EDF – Électricité de France. The aim is to insure safe and security in the operating conditions and to provide reliability in the energy supply, by reducing the out-of-service periods and the cost of maintenance, and by improving the lifetime assessment of components of rotating machinery. Model-based method is described in detail and the relevant methods for tuning the models are also introduced.
