A way to recover pure uranium as UO4 from UO2 and (U,Gd)O2 nuclear fuel scraps by using carbonate solution with hydrogen peroxide was studied and the nuclear fuel fabrication characteristics of the UO2 powder prepared from the UO4 was evaluated.
