abstract

Blast response of armor composite plate is a complex process, which strongly depends on the form of the blast loading, materials properties of the target, structure boundary conditions, etc. The blast response of composite targets is also a time-dependent process. In order to better solve the time dependent non-linear governing equations of the composite plate under blast loading, a new multi-domain Hermite Differential Quadratue (MD-HDQ) method is developed to obtain the numerical results. In the proposed numerical method, the time-dependent unknown function is directly interpolated in both time domain and spatial domain, which is easy to implement and saves computation time. After the developed MD-HDQ method is numerically validated, the detailed numerical analyses about the effects of the boundary conditions and pressure pulse loading shapes are conducted and the influence of the transverse shear force on the dynamic response is discussed.
