abstract

Valves play a key role as safeguards for process safety and mechanical integrity of petroleum refineries and chemical plants. Recent changes in the valve manufacturing industry have resulted in considerable variation in quality, which led to several serious industry incidents. This paper provides an assessment of vulnerability and potential impact on process safety and mechanical integrity.
