abstract

Existing expressions for the optimization of individual fins of rectangular profile are reviewed and a new expression that relates the tip admittance to the input admittance is derived. A procedure for finding the optimum longitudinal fin of rectangular profile with tip heat loss is provided and this procedure is illustrated with an example of an array for a forced convection example.
