abstract

A broad range of compositions, properties, and forms has made polymers the most diverse class of biomaterials available [1]. Among polymers, hydrogels have the unique capacity for preserving their shape and mechanical strength even while imbibing water and ions. Biological hydrogels include components found in muscle, tendons, cartilage, intestines, and blood [2].
